The Complete APS Certificate Guide for Egyptian Students (2025)
Step-by-step APS certificate guide for Egyptian students applying to German universities in 2025.
What is the APS Certificate?
The APS (Akademische Prüfstelle) certificate is a mandatory document for Egyptian students applying to German universities. Introduced in 2022, it verifies the authenticity and equivalency of your Egyptian academic qualifications. Without it, your application will be rejected by any German university or the German embassy.
Who Needs It?
All Egyptian nationals applying for a German student visa for a degree program (Bachelor's, Master's, PhD) must obtain the APS certificate. There are no exceptions, regardless of which German university you're applying to.
How to Apply: Step by Step
1. Register on the APS Egypt website and create an account. 2. Upload your documents: Bachelor's degree, all transcripts, national ID. 3. Pay the fee (~2,000 EGP). 4. Book your interview appointment at the APS office in Cairo. 5. Attend the interview (10–15 minutes, academic questions in German or English). 6. Receive your certificate within 6–8 weeks.
Tips & Common Mistakes
• Apply EARLY — processing takes 6–8 weeks minimum and appointments book up fast. • Bring originals AND copies of all documents to your interview. • The interview is short but meaningful — prepare to answer questions about your studies. • APS is valid indefinitely — you only need it once.
